| Sections of Tunnel Hill trail closed |

TUNNEL HILL - Sections of Tunnel Hill State Trail will likely remain closed for some time as workers repair damage caused by the February flooding, the February ice storm and the March flooding. Flooding on February 5 impacted isolated areas north of Tunnel Hill, the ice storm broke trees and limbs over the length of the trail and the March 18 flood damaged from Vienna south to the Henry N. Barkhausen Cache River Wetlands Center. One of the most severely damaged sections is between New Burnside and Tunnel Hill. “Sugar Creek is so close to the trail. GALESBURG — The ground has really softened up the last couple weeks. The spring rains and warmer temperatures have loosened the soil making it receptive to seed and nurturing. A new growing season is upon us and the local agricultural community is chomping at the bit waiting for the soil to dry enough to allow planting operations to begin.
