What Are Camping Gear Necessities
If you have enough space at home, start working on a checklist and collect all the items in one part of the house. If you start early then when the time comes for you to head out you just need to put together all the items and start packing. If you have not planned enough, then you may find yourself running around shopping for camping gear necessities and might just end up forgetting a thing or two. And if that thing happens to be something critical like a sleeping bag or a tent, then you may not have a camping trip at all in the first place let alone a nice comfortable one.

Important Fundamentals Of Camping Equipment
Camping equipment is a broad term that applies to camping supplies required during camping trips. Some who may favor roughing it out may opt for very basic things, which are enough to get by especially if they have trekking and backpacking included in the schedule. Others who have longer stays planned with family or children may require more equipment and supplies to see them through till they return.

Should we allow bows in gun season?
Things have finally started happening on the legislative front in Springfield. Rep. Brandon Phelps (D-Harrisburg) has introduced House Bill 4631, which would allow the use of archery equipment during the gun season. On the surface, it seems like a pretty harmless bill. But taking a look at how it might be implemented makes even die-hard bowhunters think twice about a bill that would directly benefit them. It’s no secret that I’ve spent the better part of the last six years being involved with the Illinois Bowhunters Society. You would think this bill would be a slam-dunk for both statewide bowhunting organizations. More opportunity for bowhunters, what more could an organizatio...

Sittin' On The Water
The last time I used my eleven plastic decoys was in a fresh water pond, near Greens Cut, just off of the Intercoastal Waterway, west of Tiki Island.  Dana Sawyer?s brother-in-law, Jerry Feagin, had asked me to accompany him to this special spot, for in his words, ?Some fabulous Duck hunting.? To get to this ?fabulous? spot required a five mile trip, in the dark, west on the Intercoastal; then up Hall?s Bayou, crossing over a reef that at high tide had twelve inches of water covering it, navigate through, Hall?s Lake, anchor the boat, carry guns, shells and decoys, up and over a lake dam to our destination.  Remember, all of this in the dark! Our destination was a fresh water lake, the on...
