| More budget cuts loom for DNR |

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources faces more bad news in the wake of Gov. Blagojevich’s latest round of proposed budget cuts. Though nothing is set in stone yet, and there are plenty of fights ahead, Blagojevich’s cuts would likely require major staff reductions. Sources say the DNR cuts would include $9 million in salaries, or 11.5 percent of all DNR salary from funds. The proposed DNR head count for 2009 would be 1,420. That would require a reduction of 163 positions. Here’s a possible breakdown in those cuts, culled from fact sheets sent out recently by two different sources. Office of Realty and Environmental Planning GRF cut in personnel is 960,000 or 51%...
