Really Swarmin'
Walking over to our old ranch house at 6:00 AM yesterday morning, I looked up and 2 deer were in our garden!  Walking on into the house, I grabbed my camera, hoping to get a picture of at least 2 of the deer that had caused the earlier severe depredations.  As I walked outside, the 2 deer were already over the fence and trying to look innocent and I was left with no picture. Glancing at the hummingbird feeder, maybe 15 of the little guys were really swarmin? around it.  As I snuck over and leaned against a mesquite tree, they all took flight, but I knew they would be back soon, and first back was a female, closely followed by a second.                          More females came piling in ...

The Enjoyment of Crappie Fishing
While it is true that no special fishing equipment is necessary for crappie fishing, it is a good idea to invest in a telescoping rod so that you can attain the reach necessary to the brushy area where crappie is generally found without disrupting the waters and spooking the fish. Watch closely; crappie does not aggressively attack bait, so their presence may go undetected unless you are using a bobber.
