Hunting Means More Than Killing
It’s become something of a habit for me. Once the fall hunting season ends, there’s a good chance that once a day I’ll think back to another hunt from another year where a big buck was taken or the opportunity was lost for one reason or another. It’s this ability to recall past hunts, successful or not, that allow us to wallow through nine months of not hunting deer with a bow. Apply now for prairie chicken, fall turkey hunts
Hunters who wish to apply for one of 186 permits for the 2008 Minnesota prairie chicken season or for one of 7,660 permits for the fall turkey hunt must do so by July 25. Youth deer hunts offer exciting opportunities for new hunters
Five state parks, two military reservations, two refuges and a nature preserve will provide high-quality deer hunting for 490 young hunters this fall, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR). The deadline to apply for the Special Youth Deer Hunts is Friday, Aug. 15.
