Banner mining hearing continues
SPRINGFIELD — After a month-long hiatus, opponents of a proposed strip-mining operation in Fulton County resumed their effort to block the project. An administrative hearing, which went into its third day on Wednesday, is meant to resolve whether the Illinois Department of Natural Resources erred when it authorized a permit for Capital Resources Development Co.’s project near Banner.
