Apprentice Hunter License Program expanded SPRINGFIELD - Gov. Rod Blagojevich signed legislation expanding eligibility in Illinois' Apprentice Hunter License Program to out-of-state hunters. The Illinois Apprentice Hunter License Program grants limited hunting privileges to residents - and now non-residents - interested in trying hunting before buying a regular Illinois hunting license.

| Fooling A Snorting Doe |

It happens at least once every fall. A doe, and possibly one that has been shot at with a bow or been close to buck that was shot with an arrow, will start snorting for no apparent reason. The doe is uncomfortable for whatever reason, and she begins blowing and snorting. If allowed to carry on forever, it could chase all the other deer from the area. There are a number of things that hunters can do. Nothing works all the time, but any of these little tricks can satisfy her curiosity. Once satisfied that all is well in her little corner of the world, she may move off or stick around but quit snorting and blowing. One thing to try is a very soft buck grunt. SPRINGFIELD, IL – Controlled pheasant hunting opportunities will be available at 18 Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) sites this fall, and the 2008-09 season dates and permit reservation information are now available online. Fourteen of the sites will be operated by the IDNR (applications accepted starting Aug. 4th), while four other sites will continue to be operated in a public/private partnership arrangement between the IDNR and concessionaire T.
