Dipbait sweep makes friends
Last year when he hauled his Hoss’s Hawg Bait to a catfish tournament in Texas, Russ Nash spent several quiet hours in his booth. Not so last Saturday at Rend Lake. After anglers fishing exclusively with Nash’s dipbait placed first, second and third in the 50-boat Bass Pro Big Cat Quest event, he was flooded with new friends. “People that never carried on a conversation with me in the past were coming up and talking sponorship and stuff like that,” said Nash, who creates his gooey catfish concoction in Peoria County between Hanna City and Elmwood. The showing by Hoss’s Hawg Bait was even more impressive since the three top teams had never fished a tournament....
