| Late Winter Is A Bad Time For Deer |

The last two weeks of March can be an empty time for a deer herd if the weather turns bad. The five-day forecast for this week and part of next is for milder weather and some snow. It’s not always this way, and it could certainly change in a matter of days, if past two weeks means anything. By now, most deer are stretched pretty lean and it doesn’t take much to tip them over the edge if they can?t find food. However, I?ve been seeing a number of deer feeding along the shoulder of roads and those numbers will increase. Slow down and look ahead for deer. | Kishwaukee boat ramp to be repaired |

Kishwaukee River kayakers and canoeists will have a renovated launch site this summer in New Milford, while plans for an improved Rock River boat ramp at the former Ace of Diamonds property remain shelved. The project on the south bank of the Kishwaukee River in Atwood Park is scheduled for completion this spring. It expands the former launch site, provides more parking and is accessible to boaters with disabilities. “We are going to get people from all over the region,” said Tom Hill, park facility supervisor. “This particular canoe landing is in some of the kayak and canoe map books that are out, so it is already a destination for some people. “Kayak and canoe is...
