| Archery deer hunting opportunity |

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources will again this fall conduct an archery deer hunting program at the Weldon Springs-Piatt County Unit. Click here for information on the site. The unit will be open for hunting during 12 one-week periods from October 4, 2008 through January 11, 2009. The unit will be closed to archery hunting during the weeks of firearm deer season (November 17-23 and December 1-7). This special hunt will only be available to current Illinois residents. All statewide rules and regulations will apply unless stated otherwise. Hunting periods will be filled through a mail-in drawing. The 2008 spring trout fishing season in Illinois begins at 5 a.m. on Saturday, April 5,. “After enduring the cold, sleet, snow and ice of winter, Illinois anglers are ready for spring and the start of the spring trout fishing season is a great reason to get the fishing tackle ready,” Department of Natural Resources acting director Sam Flood said. “Anglers of all ages look forward to trout season and our catchable trout program.” The IDNR stocks more than 60,000 rainbow trout in bodies of water where spring trout fishing is permitted. | RMEF Bull Run Chapter 17th Annual Big Game Banquet |

Saturday Night was the 17th Annual Big Game Banquet put on by the Bull Run Chapter of the RMEF in Northern Virginia. This banquet is one of the very first events that I attended for conservation over 9 years ago. This years banquet was a wonderful night for conservation. I really enjoy the opportunity to catch up with old friends and this banquet is one of my favorite. I am going to let the pictures tell the story of the night. We had a ton of fun and we raised a good amount of money for the protection of Elk and other wildlife.
