Lake of the Week: West Battle Lake
What?s there? A great lake with little bit of everything - including northern, largemouth bass, walleyes, crappies, bluegills and muskies. Walleyes ranged from 9.7 to 29.7 inches in a 2007 DNR survey. Average size was 14.8 inches and 1.4 pounds. Their numbers were down last year, but remain in the normal range. Walleye stocking numbers have been boosted since 2003. Meanwhile, northerns averaged 21.9 inches and 2.7 pounds.
