| Illinois turkey season headed for a record |

Illinois looks on track for a record spring turkey harvest. The north zone, through four seasons, reported a harvest of 7,627, up from 6,860 last year. The fifth and final north season runs through Thursday. South zone hunters for all five seasons reported a harvest of 6,044, up from 5,835 last year. South Zone Through 5 complete seasons (5/8); South Zone hunters harvested 6,044 birds, compared to 5,835 last year during that same period. Season breakdowns are as follows (last year in parentheses): 1-1,430 (1,477); 2-1,151 (1,125); 3-1064 (1,002); 4-1,053 (1,034); and 5-1,342 (1,184).
