| Missouri's November Deer Harvest Dips Slightly from 2007 |
|
From Missouri Department of Conservation -- Missouri's November firearms deer harvest dipped by 6.4 percent this year, leading the state's top deer expert to believe that antler-point restrictions and an emphasis on shooting antlerless deer are paying off. The statewide deer harvest during the 11-day November Portion of Firearms Deer Season was 200,679. That is down 13,815 from last year. The top harvest counties were Macon, with 4,021 deer checked; Benton with 3,600 and Texas with 3,590.

| Gift #4 for the Bass Fishing Rube in your life! |

All anglers and outdoorsman for that fact really need a good set of polarized glasses. First and foremost, to protect your eyes from wind, bugs, stray hooks and lures, dust and dirt and numerous other potentially damaging UFO's. Let's face it, most if us would struggle to enjoy life as we know it without our eyes and likely the set you have is the last you will get. The most important factor of sunglasses is fit, if they are lightweight and fit well, you will keep them on and they will protect your eyes, if you don't wear them, they do you know good. | Pondering the deer harvest decline |
|
The general concensus around central Illinois, and the rest of the state for that matter, is that deer hunters were just not seeing the deer during the first segment of this year’s shotgun deer season which was completed last weekend. Statewide, hunters killed a preliminary total of 71,894 during the opening weekend. Those numbers are well below the totals of last year when 85,490 deer were killed during the opening weekend. Fulton County was again in the top five with a total harvest of 1,878 deer, That number, however, is well below last year’s total of 2003. Pike County led the state with 2,194 deer, followed by Adams with 1,900. Fulton County was third. Randolph was fourth...

A glimpse of my superfun weekend. This is after we removed the tile--since then we've cleaned off the remaining adhesive from the old tile and have started sanding off the filler patches left from it. Doesn't look much different yet. It appears this project will stretch into next weekend, if not beyond. Originally we ruled out placing new tile over the old, which is possible. It looks fine when most people do it, but we decided to rip out the old because we wanted to "do it right." But before most of the old tile was off, our old home improvement mantra began to fill the kitchen: "If only we'd known."
