| Albino buck spotted at Clinton Lake |
|
The presence of an albino whitetail deer has been luring wildlife watchers to the Mascoutin camgrounds in the Clinton Lake State Recreation Area. Jim Capel of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources told the Bloomington Pantagraph that sightseers are showing up in the mornings and afternoons at the Mascoutin campgrounds at Clinton Lake State Recreation Area south of DeWitt to see the deer. Capel said the buck was born in 2007. “It’s a buck, it’s a little buck, and it’s really kind of cute,” said Capel. “It’s becoming a popular tourist attraction. We get an influx just as it’s getting light and another in the evening. This dude stands out. It’s not that hard to see.” Click here to see pictures of the buck taken by Mary Fuller. All-white deer are protected from hunting in Illinois.
