| My Time in the Woods |

By Billy Kizziah -- The rut on was on in the Corners. I hunt near where the boundary lines for three counties meet; Pickens, Tuscaloosa and Fayette counties located in west Alabama. My property is located just inside Fayette County in a community called Ashcraft Corners. I have hunted the property for years and harvested several deer. I took an 8-point buck several years ago that I thought was the pinnacle of my hunting experiences. However, all that was going to change on the afternoon of Jan. 5, 2007. I had constructed a shooting house between two trees, which overlooked a food plot. The shooting house had been in place for five years. I made the shooting house as comfortable as possible since I was retired and knew I was going to spend a lot of time in it. I insulated the walls, installed a comfortable chair and sliding windows. I wanted it to be relaxing because you never know when you might have to check your eyelids for leaks.
