The Buck Stops Here v1.2
This weeks round up of deer hunting articles has some pretty interesting stuff. Be sure to check it all out. Just click on the links! You have got to see this one! We?ve had some pretty good days at Long Creek but?.. This photo brought to you courtesy of blogger Conniemia . She writes: "Apparently, when dad was in town registering the deer, people were actually getting out of their cars and taking pictures of this. I don't care how townie you are, THIS is impressive. Not just the number of deer, or BUCKS for that matter, but the fact that they got them all on one short-bed pick-up truck. .... yep, this is my life. " Connie tells us that there are seven bucks and four does in the back of the truck, all culled during Thanksgiving weekend at the family hunt camp, Porkey Creek Lodge, in Wisconsin. This past year, several of the hunters at Long Creek donated their meat ? some went to Hunters for the Hungry, some went to people who we knew personally that could use it. It was greatly appreciated by the recipients. Similar opportunities to feed the hungry exist in just about every community. Let?s make every deer count for those that need them. Archery hunting has grown in the last 30 years according to the Illinois DNR. But elsewhere, development encroaches on traditional hunting and feeding grounds. When new rural homeowners regard deer as pets, it follows that Deer May Roam, But Hunters May Not Tread . Second, wear your safety harness, and wear it properly . Dave Richey, an outdoor writer, muses on whether deer can sense danger. Meanwhile, when the tables get turned on some poachers , it turns out that their sense of danger is less attuned. Lastly, here?s an awesome photo blog of some deer hunting in New Zealand .
