The Buck Stops Here v1.3
It was a thin week for articles on deer hunting this week. Must be that time of year, as Dave Richey, notes in Time Is Winding Down For Deer Hunters. Ah, well, now?s the time to be creating all those great venison recipes. Venison is a healthy, low-fat addition to the menu, and the corn-fed deer we harvest here in Illinois are tender and not at all gamey or bitter, (which can happen when deer have been eating landscaping rather than their natural forage). If the chief cook is looking for inspiration, Recipeland.com has a number of intriguing venison recipes . Do you know a woman who hunts? If so, she may be interested in reading Woman The Hunter by Mary Zeiss Stange, a professor at Skidmore College. She recently wrote an editorial in USA Today on Why Deer Hunts Can Be Humane . Blogger Jim Freeman further expounds upon the costs of deer overpopulation in Taking A Bead On Bambi. Happy New Year, everyone. We?ll see you next year, back at the lodge.
