| Walleye, Lakers and Pike on Cabonga Reservoir |
|
I'll be joining a group of friends for 4 days of fishing in late June, this time we head up to Cabonga reservoir, a massive body of water north of Mont Laurier. Mike picked up some bathymetric maps which I will install on my GPS, of course I will be bringing my boat - I don't really like going to large lakes and use the small boats the outfitters rent, when the wind picks up in those areas of northern Quebec, you want to have a large boat for safety and comfort. I heard there are millions of places to hit bottom so I'll be riding the boat safely (no hot-dogging!) If any of you guys have been there before, I would love to hear about it. Which sectors did you fish, what kind of fish did you catch, which techniques did you try, etc. I don't remember the name of the outfitter where we will be staying, but we will have larger boats with big motors, so we should be able to cover a good portion of the lake from where we will be staying.
